The Greenlee School will prepare you to take your first job before you actually land one–one of the most exciting, comprehensive, capstone experiences of your academic career–our internship at a professional media outlet.
Our current student share your dreams, but many realize them with dream jobs at such companies as MTV, 20/20, Jimmy Kimmel Live, ESPN, Better Homes and Gardens, Des Moines Register, Lee Enterprises, Scripps, CNN, Sports Illustrated, USA Today, KCCI, WHO and dozens of other community, regional and national outlets in advertising, broadcasting, multimedia, public relations, newspapers, magazines, and science and visual communication.
Our internship program features a full-time coordinator in Kim McDonough (you’ll love her!) with expert advice from professors and alumni. Better still, as a Scripps Foundation partner, you can compete for two dream jobs in media centers like New York City or Los Angeles. And if you’d like to stay closer to home and have a unique experience, you can vie for a Meredith Apprenticeship (a super internship) during which you’ll work for editors for some of the world’s most popular magazines, including Better Homes and Gardens!
Below we showcase recent internships. No matter if you decide to apply at ISU or elsewhere, you can learn from their experiences as well as the motto of the Greenlee School: Education is a lifelong experience; experience is a lifelong education; education plus experience equals expertise.
